How to choose a betting site

Once you have a shortlist, compare the things that affect how you actually bet.

01

Betting product

Start with the sports and markets you genuinely use. Football, racing and exchange bettors can value very different products.

02

Odds & pricing

Odds move continuously and popularity does not guarantee the best price. Compare the markets you actually bet.

03

Betting tools

Cash Out, Bet Builder, streaming and racing tools matter only if they improve the way you actually bet.

04

Payments & withdrawals

Check supported methods, limits and official withdrawal terms. Processing times can vary by method and account checks.

05

Licensing & customer funds

Check that a site is licensed for Great Britain and understand how it protects customer funds if the operator becomes insolvent.

How GC Score works

GC Score measures popularity on a 0–100 scale. For this ranking, two signals have equal weight.

50%Web popularity

Estimated website popularity for the relevant brand domain.

50%Search demand

Branded Google search demand for the current market.

Higher GC Score means stronger measured popularity within this ranking. It is not a quality rating, market share or bettor count. Commercial relationships never affect the score or order.

Methodology details

Both signals are normalized onto the same 0–100 scale before they are combined. A brand receives a GC Score only when both signals are sufficiently comparable; missing evidence is never converted to zero.

Current signal sources: web popularity uses Similarweb-derived estimates for the relevant brand domain (July 2026); search demand uses branded Google Keyword Planner data collected via Topvisor (August 2026).

Trend is separate from GC Score. It shows the latest month-over-month change in estimated web popularity and is directional context, not a second ranking score.

Licensing & customer protection

This ranking covers sites eligible for Great Britain — England, Scotland and Wales — under the Gambling Commission’s remit. Northern Ireland has a different remote-gambling regulatory position.

Customer-funds labels use the Gambling Commission’s insolvency classifications. Medium means protective arrangements exist but repayment is not guaranteed; High uses a legally separate structure such as a trust with independent controls.

Common questions

What is the most popular betting site in the UK?+

In the current Gambling Charts ranking dated 31 August 2026, bet365 is #1 with a GC Score of 100. That means it has the strongest measured popularity profile in this ranking, not that it is automatically the best choice for every bettor.

How does Gambling Charts rank betting sites?+

The current UK ranking gives equal weight to web popularity and branded search demand. We calculate a GC Score only where both signals are sufficiently comparable.

Why do some betting sites have no GC Score?+

16 eligible brands currently do not have enough comparable web and search evidence for a full GC Score. They remain visible as Limited data without an invented score or numbered rank.

Are these sites licensed across the whole United Kingdom?+

The ranking eligibility work is based on the Gambling Commission's Great Britain remit, covering England, Scotland and Wales. Remote gambling in Northern Ireland has a different regulatory position.

What does Trend mean?+

Trend shows the latest month-over-month change in estimated web popularity for the measured brand domain. It is directional context, not a change in GC Score and not a measure of bettors, revenue or market share.

What does High or Medium customer-funds protection mean?+

These are Gambling Commission insolvency-protection classifications. Medium means protective arrangements exist but repayment is not absolutely guaranteed. High means customer funds use a legally separate structure such as an independently controlled trust.
